OTAMAN Gen4 V1 body armor is a body armor system with an extended protection area covering the entire body. The body armor weighs 8.3 kg. The relatively high weight is due to the extended coverage provided by Class 1 ballistic protection according to DSTU.

The protection level of the body armor in the basic V1 configuration is Class 6 according to DSTU. This protection class provides protection against fragments, ricochets, and automatic rifle fire.
 

The basic configuration includes an extended plate carrier, protection for the abdomen and chest, back and sides, 4 rigid magazine pouches, as well as Class 6 ceramic armor plates.

The body armor can also be additionally equipped with Class 6 armor plates measuring 27 × 35 cm.
 

This body armor is suitable for both larger and slimmer users.

However, let’s explain how to choose the right body armor size:

Size S/M — suitable for people up to 175 cm tall, with a chest circumference from 50 to 170 cm.
Size L/XL — suitable for people 175 cm tall and above, with a chest circumference from 60 to 180 cm.

Don’t worry, the body armor can be easily adjusted to fit virtually any body size.

Main advantages of the body armor:


1. Durability:

The plate carrier is made from CORDURA 1000 — a flame-resistant and extremely durable fabric with excellent abrasion resistance (over 50,000 cycles), reduced visibility through night-vision devices, and moisture resistance. The quick-release system is located on the sides and shoulders, allowing the wearer to quickly remove the body armor in an emergency and providing medical personnel with access to the torso within seconds.

2. Protection:

The extended protection area provides comprehensive coverage of the front, sides, and back of the body, offering greater coverage compared with many other body armor models.

3. Comfort:

The body armor is designed to redistribute its weight onto the muscles of the back and abdomen rather than concentrating the load on the shoulders, as is common with many body armor systems. This allows you to wear the body armor for longer periods with greater comfort and less physical strain.

 

OTAMAN body armor (Improved Ballistic Vest, Class 2) was developed based on the legendary U.S. Army IOTV combat body armor. This model was specifically designed for military operations in Afghanistan and was later used in Syria, Iraq, and by military contractors around the world. This body armor became particularly well known for its extensive protection coverage, which has become critically important with the development of modern artillery threats.

The IOTV (Improved Outer Tactical Vest) was developed based on combat experience, where high mobility and maximum protection became key requirements. For example, the IOTV features a quick-release system that allows soldiers to immediately remove the armor when necessary, which can be critical during sudden attacks or when rapid evacuation from a combat area is required. OTAMAN body armor incorporates these advanced solutions, providing not only reliable protection but also a high level of functionality for modern military personnel.

• Protection class: Class 6 (corresponds to NIJ IV 0101.06).
• Plate material: Ceramic (aluminum oxide Al₂O₃) + UHMWPE (Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene).
• Plate dimensions: 30 × 25 cm.
• Plate thickness: 2.4 mm.
• Plate weight: 2.8 kg.

Our armor plates feature an information label indicating the protection class and have undergone laboratory testing. Together with the order, we provide a stamped copy of the test documentation confirming the stated protection class.
 

Ballistic protection:

•         Material: Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) and an 8 mm impact-damping layer to reduce blunt impact;
•         Protection class: Class 1 according to DSTU 8782:2018;
•         The ballistic protection has undergone laboratory testing (together with the order, we provide a stamped copy of the test documentation confirming compliance with the stated protection class);
