OTAMAN Gen4 V1+ Body Armor is a body armor system with an increased protection area covering the entire body. The body armor weighs 9.6 kg. The relatively high weight is due to the increased area of Class 2 ballistic protection according to DSTU.

The protection level of the V1+ body armor in its standard configuration is Class 6 according to DSTU. This protection level provides protection against fragments, ricochets, and rifle fire.
 

The standard configuration includes an enlarged plate carrier, protection for the abdomen and chest, back and sides, 4 rigid magazine pouches, as well as Class 6 ceramic armor plates.

The body armor can also be equipped with Class 6 plates measuring 27 × 35 cm.
 

This body armor is suitable for both larger-built and slim users.

However, let us explain how to choose the right body armor size:

Size S/M — suitable for people up to 175 cm tall, with a chest circumference from 50 to 170 cm.
Size L/XL — suitable for people from 175 cm tall, with a chest circumference from 60 to 180 cm.

Don't worry — the body armor can be easily adjusted to fit virtually any body size.

Main advantages of the body armor:


1. Durability:

The plate carrier is made from CORDURA 1000 — a flame-resistant and extremely durable fabric resistant to abrasion (over 50,000 cycles), does not burn, is not visible through night vision devices, and is moisture-resistant. The quick-release system is located on the sides and shoulders, allowing the wearer to quickly remove the armor in an emergency and giving medical personnel access to the torso within seconds.

2. Protection:

The increased protection area allows you to cover the front, sides, and back of the body more completely compared with other body armor models.

3. Comfort:

The body armor is designed to redistribute its weight to the back and abdominal muscles rather than concentrating it on the shoulders, as is the case with most body armor systems. This allows you to wear the body armor longer and more comfortably with less physical strain.

 

OTAMAN Body Armor (Improved Ballistic Vest, Class 2) is based on the legendary IOTV combat body armor used by the U.S. Army. This model was developed specifically for military operations in Afghanistan and was later used in Syria, Iraq, and by contractors around the world. This body armor became particularly popular due to its exceptionally large protection area, which has become critically important with the development of modern artillery weapons.

Interestingly, the IOTV (Improved Outer Tactical Vest) was developed based on combat experience, where high mobility and maximum protection became key requirements. For example, the IOTV features a quick-release system that allows soldiers to instantly remove the armor when necessary, which can be critically important during sudden attacks or when there is a need to quickly leave the battlefield. The OTAMAN body armor inherits these advanced technologies, providing not only reliable protection but also a high level of functionality for modern military personnel.

Now let's move on to the ceramic armor plates:

• Protection class: 6 (corresponds to NIJ IV 0101.06).
• Plate material: Ceramic (aluminum oxide Al₂O₃) + UHMWPE (Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene).
• Plate dimensions: 30 × 25 cm.
• Plate thickness: 2.4 mm.
• Plate weight: 2.8 kg.

Our plates feature an information label indicating the protection class and have undergone laboratory testing. Together with the order, we provide a copy of the test documentation with an official wet stamp confirming the protection class.
 

About the ballistic protection:

•         Material: Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) and an 8 mm impact-absorbing pad to reduce blunt-force impact;
•         Protection Class 2 according to DSTU 8782:2018;
•         The ballistic protection has undergone laboratory testing (together with the order, we provide a copy with an official wet stamp confirming compliance with the stated protection class);
