WROOM Soft Ballistic Plates with Class 2 ballistic packages in accordance with DSTU 8782:2018 are a versatile solution for enhancing the effectiveness of personal ballistic protection. They can be used both as a standalone ballistic protection element and as an additional impact-absorbing layer and ballistic backing behind standard armor plates, improving both the protective performance of the system and user comfort.
When installed behind a hard armor plate, the soft ballistic insert performs several important functions. It helps reduce behind-armor blunt trauma (BABT) by distributing the residual impact energy more evenly after the projectile or fragment has been stopped by the armor plate. In addition, the extra ballistic layer enhances the overall effectiveness of the protective system when used together with a hard armor plate, making the equipment even more functional.
The core of each plate is made from Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), combining exceptional strength with low weight. The ballistic package is hermetically sealed in a vacuum-sealed protective cover, protecting it from moisture, extending its service life, and minimizing the effects of water exposure on the ballistic properties of the material.
The Class 2 ballistic package in accordance with DSTU 8782:2018 provides an increased level of protection thanks to a greater number of Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) layers. This construction offers enhanced resistance against heavier and higher-velocity fragments while also providing protection against the 7.62×25 mm TT round specified under the requirements of Class 2 protection according to DSTU 8782:2018.
